The Crunch Collective is an Edinburgh-based theatre company making space for the next wave of Scottish theatre-makers. We’re all about bold new work, emerging voices, and telling stories that feel urgent, local, and full of life. Whether it’s a fast-paced comedy, a scrappy scratch night, or a piece that breaks every rule, we’re here to support the artists who are shaping what Scottish theatre can be.
We started with a simple goal: to build something that felt open, collaborative, and genuinely useful to early-career artists. Since then, we’ve produced a wide range of new work, been nominated for a Scottish Emerging Theatre Artist (SETA) Award, and launched initiatives like The Crunch Collection, which brought together five brand-new teams to make five new shows in five months. It’s this kind of energy—messy, generous, ambitious—that drives us.
We’re not interested in gatekeeping or playing it safe. We want to be a home for risk-takers, experimenters, and storytellers who care about connecting with real audiences. Our work spans genres and styles, but at the heart of it is a belief in making theatre that feels alive, that says something, and that brings people together.
If you’re trying something new, if you’ve got something to say, or if you’re just looking for a place to start—this is the kind of collective we’re building.
